What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We use a contact form on our contact page in order to respond to queries about our products, about the Atkins diet or any other queries. With this form we collect first names, surnames and email addresses. We use this data in order to reply to any queries or comments but do but do not use the information submitted through it for marketing purposes.


The other reason we might email you is if you have asked us to by subscribing to our newsletter. In this case we collect your firstname, surname and email address. We use a service called MailChimp in order to send newsletters. Please see MailChimps Privacy Policy for details on how your information is stored. This contains articles about the Atkins diet and health information as well as tips, success stories and recipes. It may also contain news and special offers. Each newsletter contains a link which gives you the opportunity to unsubscribe from future bulletins. The newsletter is separate to whether or not you are an eatingAtkins customer. There is no obligation to receive the newsletter, and you can opt out at any time.


If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with

When you order products through our site, your payment is processed through Paypal. We do not store your details (name, address or credit card details), However, in order to fulfill your order and send you your products, we receive an email with your name, email address, address, phone number(s) from Paypal. We use this information only to contact you in relation to your order and to ship your products to you. See Paypal’s Privacy Policy for details as to how they use your data.

We use a courier company called Fastway in order to deliver your products. In order to do this we enter the details we receive from Paypal (name, email address, address, phone numbers) into an online system provided by Fastway. We use this data only to ship your products to you and not for marketing purposes. Please see Fastway’s Privacy Policy for more details.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We retain data from Paypal indefinitely so that we have it on the Fastway system in order to easily send you products if you order from us again. If you wish us to delete, ammend or show you the data we hold this data please contact us at at any time.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

We have purchased and configured SSL certification for our site – this means that any data sent to us through our site e.g. through our contact form or from our site to Paypal when you order is encrypted. We have also implemented a number of security measures on our site to reduce the risk of it being compromised or hacked.

We have added a number of plugins to our site in order to notify us of any potential security problems and to help make it more secure and reduce the risk of the site being hacked.

We do not recieve data about users from third parties.
